Description

Understated and quietly tactile, the Isabella Beige Hopsack Napkin brings a natural softness to the table. Woven on vintage shuttle looms using noble 2 ply homespun delavé Italian linen yarns, the hopsack weave gives this napkin a visible texture robust yet refined. Hand-cut and sewn using the taglio dirittofilo method to preserve the linen’s structure, it’s then washed for softness and finished with delicate hand tailored edges. A timeless companion to both rustic meals and modern settings.

- +

Machine wash at 40c° (104°) keeping the different colours separated. Stains can be treated before washing with a stain remover. Let the product rest without rubbing the stain and then wash immediately. With dark colours, test the remover on a small part of the fabric. For air drying after washing, stretch out the damp items and remove creases, then hang to dry before folding. Use a tumble dryer on a light cycle. Iron at medium temperatures.

Base fabrics are woven on vintage shuttle looms that creates a fabric with a beautiful character, using homespun yarn-dyed delavé Italian linen yarns in a hopsack weave structure. Each piece is hand cut one at a time in process called “taglio dirittofilo”, a method to insures a very straight cut that results in each item being perfectly squared and not warping after wash or use. In a true sartorial process each edge is sewn before being washed for a second time to insure a perfect finishing. Every piece is hand ironed and folded with the greatest care by our tailors to insure the most beautiful unique item for your table.

Design Inspiration

The Hopsack Collection unites the meticulous workmanship of skilled artisans with a contemporary design sensibility, resulting in a bespoke product crafted for modern living.
Each piece begins with the finest noble homespun delavé Italian linen yarns, woven on vintage shuttle looms to create a textile rich in character and integrity. The design direction reflects a modern eye exploring refined color palettes, thoughtful proportions, and the subtle interplay of texture and form. This considered approach yields pieces that are both grounded and elevated, carrying a quiet sophistication that feels at once timeless and current.

Every item is finished by hand and selected with the utmost care crafted to bring enduring beauty to the everyday table.

Artisanship

Each piece is individually hand-cut using the traditional taglio dirittofilo method a time-honoured technique in which one yarn is pulled from the weft and one from the warp, allowing the cut line to align perfectly with the weave of the cloth. This ensures an impeccably straight, squared edge, preventing distortion or twisting over time and preserving the integrity of the form through years of use.

In a process more akin to tailoring than textile production, each edge is meticulously sewn, then hand-fringed by skilled artisans. This delicate finishing is followed by a second wash, softening the linen further and allowing its unique character to gently emerge.

It is in the final stages when each piece is hand-ironed and precisely folded by our master tailors that the true spirit of the Hopsack Collection comes to life. These human gestures, of patience and precision, elevate each item beyond function, transforming it into a quiet expression of craftsmanship made to bring beauty and intention to the daily ritual of dining.

Entirely made in Italy, the Hopsack Collection honours heritage with a deeply human touch created to used, and passed on.
